This topic is dear to my heart and I have had many discussions with members in my club Amateur in the type of golf ball being used. The answer is always the same. Use different golf balls every day, sometimes using different types and brands in the course of a single round. Just be patient for a moment while explains how this can affect their scores and handicap in a big way.

Imagine the scene if you will - David just hit his second shot out limits on the 5th with a Top Flite XL, reaches into his bag and pulls out another golf ball this time it is a Titleist ProV1 it is up to the front of the green, is now about 15 yards from the pin and takes his faithful wedge out and proceeded to chip the ball into the hole, it is up about 4 yards. He thought he had beaten a perfect chip as their view is usually quite good in this range, he misses the putt then continues with his round of golf is not the wisest.

Ok back up a bit here and analyze the situation. I'm sure by now some of you have guessed the problem, its quite common and happens thousands of times a day in the golf courses around the world.

When David was moved to a ProV1 ball that created the problem with your chip back in front of the green. The Top Flite XL would have jumped off the face of the club with his chip, and probably have been nearer the hole to save a shot, but because he changed to the soft ProV1 (you have to press more firmly) ended his short chip costing him a valuable coup.

Golf balls react differently to a variety of complete shock and not to mention the setting that makes the control distance is very difficult if you chop and change their golf balls all the time. Feeling is a very important factor in golf and should not be overlooked.

The simple fact is you should use the same type and brand of golf ball all the time. I'm not saying you should not try different golf balls, but must get used to a golf ball and not to cut and change too often. Especially during the course of a round. Get used to using the ball was guilty.

The next time you play check golf balls bearing, to ensure that the sacks in the course with you all the same type and brand.

Above all enjoy this great game of golf.
