On the New Jersey court stenography .. Voice writers are legal in New Jersey, and lawyers do not like to use them?

I was told that the speech writers (court reporters) NOT legal in every state and the lawyers do not really like to use, preferring the more traditional typist recording a Steno machine. What can you say?

these days a lot of tracks that use recording equipment is then given to a typist to transcribe on a computer, so this is a much safer way of doing things and the recording can also be stored for check if necessary. not sure of legality, etc
