The salaries are substantial and court reporters are in demand everywhere in the U.S..

Work at Home Opportunities

Many court reporters independent contractors who work outside the home either independently or through judicial notice of agency. Wireless Technologies and the Internet made it easy to do these jobs remotely, even if it should "assist" the event you are documenting.

However, it is almost impossible for a court reporter without experience to work as an independent consultant. Journalists have to work at least two years in a clerical position under supervision before they have a real opportunity to work outside their homes.
