Where do I start?

Right first things first. The first thing you do is find out how much laminate flooring will need. To do this you will need to measure the width of your space and the duration of your room in feet. Write these numbers down and then multiply the two together. This then gives the size of the room square feet. Then you must add 10% for wastage.

Example:

Width 5 metresx Length 4 meters = 20sqms 10% = 22sqm

You'll have to 22sqm floor.

Now you have to know how many packages you need. If the laminate floor you have chosen comes in packs 1.5sqm said then simply divide your room size by this number.

Example

22sqm divided by 1.5sqm = 14.66 cartons.

Rounded to the next pack means you need 15 packages of ground.

You also have to do this by the number of underlying need.

What else is needed?

If it is laminate flooring in a concrete floor, then you must also purchase a moisture-proof membrane (DPM). Most brands now have underlying that includes a built in DPM. This is worth buying, as it saves time and money.

Doors.

Door has one of the following transition profiles.

End Cap - This is used in doorways that meet carpet, ceramic tile or stone. Also can be used to finish with the ground against things like a sliding glass door.

Reduction - this is used when there is a difference in height between the laminate flooring and the flooring will meet with as linoleum or vinyl

T Molding - This is needed in doorways where laminate meets laminate. Or for any time a hard surface is 1 / 8 inch. be the same height as the laminate, you can use a molding T.

Finishing around the perimeter of the room.

With Laminate Flooring you have to leave an expansion gap of about 10 mm in any part of the floor meets a wall. There are two ways of hiding this expansion gap.

One way is to change the sockets, so the new settings sockets in the expansion joint. This of course adds more cost and time to your project.

Cheaper and faster the second is to cover the expansion gap with the departure / Scotland. This fits against the skirting boards covering the hole expansion. Most brands offer item that matches the color of your laminate flooring.

To measure this far, just around the perimeter of the room, where they will need to leave. Again you must add 10% for wastage. Once you have this below, will have to divide it by the length of heading, usually come in lengths of 2.4 meters.

You also have to purchase a mounting kit. This usually consists of a block of the recording, drawbar and spacers.
