Machine Case

General information:
- The DFG EC-2000 is a heavy duty electric spiral coil binding machine that is designed for users looking for a high quality durable machine but do not need the full disengageable dies offered by the E-TitanCoil.
- Manufactured by the Document Finishing Group, the EC2000 is offered at an excellent price point given its characteristics. In fact, one of the cheaper heavy electric coil binding machines available on the market.
- This machine is specially designed to meet the needs of organizations that need a working machine binding heavy very productive, but it is not necessary to require documents that are more or less than eleven inches.
Strengths / Features:
- After taking the EC2000 outside the box of the first things I noticed was how heavy this machine is durable. From looking at pictures Internet, I thought that if this machine could have been made of plastic. However, the body and the case of this machine are made of metal components Heavy die cast. The EC-2000 uses the same heavy-duty case design as the more expensive E-Titan Coil, simply does not have disengageable dies.
- In tests of the punch on this computer I was able to drill up to twenty sheets of 20 lb paper. However, this was a very tight fit. I would probably recommend punched between twenty and twenty-two sheets of paper at once. This is actually a very good drilling capacity for a machine of this type and should offer excellent productivity for most medium and large organizations.
- The EC-2000 includes a pair of spiral coil crimping pliers in the box with the machine. These tweezers are designed to cut and crimp the ends of the coil so that the loops do not spin back off your bound documents. It is great that this kit includes an pair, and will cost about $ 30 if you have to buy separately.
- Besides the heavy electric shock, the EC2000 also includes a number of other great features. It has a measuring device integrated document on the right side of the machine and a drilling depth of margin control the left side of the machine. It also has a spiral coil insertion in the top of the machine and a foot switch to activate the punch or push.
Weaknesses / Limitations:
- The main limit to the EC2000 and why it costs much less than some other electric coil binding machines is the fact that it has disengaged dies. This simply means that it is not possible any longer individual pin holes. This may not seem to be a big problem. However, this fact makes it almost impossible to drill any size eleven other document inches using the binding machine. In fact, the machine can pierce almost any length of document. However, without disengageable dies, its pages end with a hole in the edge of your documents. It looks professional and the holes are so close together that it is almost impossible to avoid.
- The EC-2000 has a built in electric coil insertion. However, the insertion of this team is more difficult to use than some of the other coil inserters that I have used. To First, only a roll instead of two and roll is only six inches long. Many other machines coil double bond rolls that extend to the entire length of the machine. The use of two rollers and is easier for the insertion of the coils using one shorter one. In addition, the roller is in the EC2000 at the top of the machine. This design forces you to lift the pages of your paper to roll, adding time to the insertion process. The insertion is working well, just more difficult to use than other coil inserters that I have evaluated.
- This machine uses a pedal to activate the punch and the insertion of the coil. However, the pedal is not as heavy as the other components used in this machine. The pedal is the weakest link in this machine and taking into account that will be intensified in hundreds and thousands of times this is a relative thing. This means you may need to be replaced eventually.
Recommendation:
- For organizations that need only bind letter-size documents, the EC-2000 is an excellent choice. Despite that can not handle legal size, A4 or letter size sheets of medium, this machine has all the other features included in the binding machines costing much more.
- It has a heavy electric shock, built in an insertion of the coil, a drilling depth of margin control, and even a two presses of the coil.
- All these things make the EC2000 an excellent choice for medium and large organizations.
- Certainly there are better machines on the market. However, this machine offers excellent value for money, unless you can live with its limitations.
