How much does a full set of equipment costs for the beginner in hockey?

I am embarking on ice hockey practice by first time. I'm planning on playing a position other than keeper and wondered how a complete set of equipment would cost. It appears that would need to get a helmet, shoulder pads, shin guards, elbow pads, belt, gloves, pants, jersey, and stick to a minimum (I already own skates). Is better than the money to start with the equipment used or can find a set of all new equipment under $ 300?

Like anything else, all depends on brand and / or receiving equipment line. I've seen sticks $ 30 all the way to $ 200 +, gloves $ 25 to $ 80 and this was when I was looking to my 6 years. playing age. For a rough idea, go to hockeymonkey.com or hockeygiant.com and you can see some prices. You can find used equipment on eBay maybe some stores where I live (where I have a place called Play It Again Sports-equipment re-sale). We bought my son a pair slightly used $ 200 skates (the retail) for $ 30. You may want to go to try some things before buying over the network, but to get your correct size. I think you may have a difficult time getting everything new for under $ 300. Good luck and enjoy playing.
