Film Roll

How long is a roll of 35mm film last undeveloped? Outside digital memory card last longer?
I was wondering about a roll of film I found in the garage that has been there for some time. It has been stored in tuperware but still falls below zero in winter inthe summer and really humid. I can only estimate the age of the film to about 5 years because thats when we bought our house. How long is good for the movie? If this were a card Memery modern digital camera would be better adapted to survive this disease? How long a card memory to be good?
The film is probably going to be OK, but the images of the same might not be as sharp as you would get from a roll new. High humidity can damage the film, and the normal background radiation from cosmic rays and other natural sources cause some clouding, but would to use a magnifying glass to see this strong. Unless the film was wet, it should be fine for prints 8x10 and smaller. New digital memory card should last more because they are not affected by heat and humidity that would be at a workshop, and because background radiation would have a lot less. In theory, a card digital memory should last a very long time, however, we will not know for sure until they have been around for a very long time.
