Webcam has a good video but no sound?

Compucessory I have a webcam with built in microphone. All software installed w / camera. I great video but no sound. USB is connected and the microphone jack is connected too. The website is no help, checked made sure input is not muted and turned up levels. Windows XP is my system. Camera software has nothing to help me with this. please help thanks a section of Windows XP becomes the sound? My speakers are on and all the other videos that have sound works, but not the video of my webcam. The sound is not muted and the input level turned all the way and the microphone jack 1 / 8 "is connected to the microphone port and USB cable. Install CD w / camera installed. aid Please thanks
